The Junior Section started summer this year (2008) and although initially slowly, has grown in numbers.  With the recruitment of a new dedicated Junior Coach (Alex Lopez) the training sessions are alot more focused.  We currently have girls and boys from the ages of 8 - 16, and reguarly average 12 for the Saturday lunch time training sessions.

Our intentions for the coming year are to continue the junior training and to work towards entering several outdoor summer tournaments for all age groups, starting from under 11's upwards.  As soon as the better weather arrives several of our training sessions will be on the new Beach Courts at Southsea.

Several of our older juniors are now training with the South East Regional Squad and are hoping to be selected to represent the South East at the Regional competition which is held in May.  Portsmouth's Head Coach (Jayne Sharpe) has been selected to coach the under 15 boys squad, there are also squads for under 17 boys, under 14 & 16 girls.

The Club over the next few months are going to promote the sport of volleyball with juniors by working with Councils, Sport Partnerships and Schools to get taster sessions going within schools and to feed these juniors into the club.

The Club also have several fully qualified coaches - so any junior who wants to try volleyball just come along on a Saturday at 1230pm.  If not contact us through the web site if you require any further information.

EVERYBODY IS WELCOME
